I just wanted to show that I have successfully rooted USA and Canada variants of the Note 9! I have not seen root anywhere else for these models!
The exploit I found and use actually works on MANY other Samsung devices including Exynos chipsets and is not just limited to USA SD variants!
This method of course does not trip Knox (my bootloader is locked.)
I have no plans to release the method publicly, this method is only good for repair tools, adb root, etc. due to Samsung new security which makes System, Vendor and ODM partitions write protected. What I mean by this is root apps work, root shell works, pretty much everything works. You are able to mount System, Vendor and ODM partitions as RW but as soon as you write to one of these protected partitions the device will crash/kernel panic. You can however mount and write to any other partition including /.
This root installs magisk or supersu in systemless/daemon mode to /sbin.
I have only tested about 20 apps including TiBu, root explorer, activity manager, android terminal, kernel tweakers, lucky patcher, adb over wifi, syslog, root essentials, root checkers and more and all worked flawlessly!
As far as the method, long story short, I exploit a script run as system UID then use it to exploit another script that is run as root UID which I then use to install root for us!
This isn't my first rodeo, I was world's first with SamPWND root to root the USA variants of the S8/S8+, was on Samsungs Security Bulletin last year for another unreleased exploit I found for the Tab S3 and other MSM8996 devices as well as this method which confirmed works on Tab S4, N9 including N9 Exynos and other Exynos Models!
